Long Distance Open Water Swimming Training Camp

 

Day 1

We will meet at 1600 in the Hotel for a Safety briefing, introductions followed by a swim in the Bay for you to become acclimatised and for us to put you in to groups according to ability. Group dinner in the evening at local venue including swimmers and staff, usually costs about £20 for main meal

Day 2

Today is a day when you take to the water and get used to your surroundings and the swimmers in your group. Your swim will be 2 hours in with a one hour break and a further 2 hours in, giving you a total of 4 swimming hours. For relay swimmers this will be 1 hour swim with a two hour break then a further 1 hour swim.

There will be a seminar early evening and an optional night swim.

Day 3

We move on from the swim achieved of yesterday to a 3 hours swim, one hour break and a final swim of 2 hours, this will give you a total of 5 hours swimming. For relay swimmers this will be 2 hours in, two hours break, then a further 1 hour swim.

Brief seminar in the early evening led by Kevin Murphy.

Day 4

This is the day when we step up it up with a straight 6 hour coastal swim. For those wishing to swim the English Channel this can be used as your qualifying swim For relay swimmers this will be 2 hours in, one hour out and 2 hours in

Day 5

3 hour swim + seminars or a 10 hour swim weather and staff availability

Day 6

This will be the second straight 6 hour swim. For those wishing to swim the English Channel this can be used as your qualifying swim. For relay swimmers this will be 2 hours in, two hours out, then a further 2 hours in.

Day 7

One final swim of approximately 1 hour prior to swimmers departing.

 

We aim to work to the itinerary as far as possible but for safety reasons we might have to swap days around due to the weather and sea conditions. There will be full safety cover for all swims.
